UK Prosecutors To Consider Charging Self-Styled Bitcoin Creator Craig Wright With Perjury and Document Forgery

Self-proclaimed Bitcoin (BTC) creator Craig Wright is facing potential prosecution in the UK over his pronouncement that he is the inventor of the world’s first and leading cryptocurrency.

In March, the presiding judge in the case filed by the industry group Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA) against Wright said that there is overwhelming evidence that the computer scientist is not the author of the Bitcoin white paper.

In a court document dated July 16th, British High Court judge James Mellor reiterates his finding, saying that Wright lied and forged documents on a grand scale to support his false narrative.

“Overall, ‘all his lies and forged documents were in support of his biggest lie: his claim to be Satoshi Nakamoto.’ In advancing his false claim to be Satoshi through multiple legal actions, Dr Wright committed ‘a most serious abuse’ of the process of the courts of the UK, Norway and the USA.”

Mellor says that he is now acting on COPA’s request to refer the documents of the case to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), the agency conducting criminal prosecutions in England and Wales.

He says the CPS will decide if a legal action for perjury and forgery of documents against Wright is warranted.

“As set out in the whole of my Main COPA Judgment, I have no doubt that I should refer the relevant papers in this case to the CPS for consideration of whether a prosecution should be commenced against Dr Wright for his wholescale perjury and forgery of documents and/or whether a warrant for his arrest should be issued and/or whether his extradition should be sought from wherever he now is.”
