Eminem & Snoop Dogg’s VMA Performance Featured The Otherside Meta
Last night, Snoop Dogg and Eminem performed their latest track “From The D 2 The LBC” live during the VMAs via the Otherside metaverse. The two rappers’ immersive VMA experience featured their Bored Ape avatars, cannabis references, and even Otherside’s Koda NFT avatars.
This is the first time two major artists use their BAYC NFTs in a live performance, and the first time MTV features the Metaverse. In fact, the VMA referred to the show as an “absolutely legendary performance” – and so does the NFT community!
How was the Bored Ape holders’ VMA performance?
On August 28th, hip-hop icons Snoop Dogg and Eminem reunited to perform their latest single “From The D 2 The LBC” at the MTV Video Music Awards.
The show started with Eminem and Snoop Dogg smoking on a couch. Soon enough, the two drift on a journey to the metaverse. There, fans could watch the digital avatars performing in colorful scenery.
At some point, the rappers turn into their Bored Ape NFTs while exploring the Otherside metaverse. The VMA stage they shared featured giant BAYC avatars dancing along to the dark track’s rhythm.
Accordingly, MTV teamed up with Yuga Labs for the unique performance. Of course, the groundbreaking show has put a spotlight on the NFT market like never before.
Why did Eminem & Snoop Dogg feature the Otherside meta?
Part of the rappers’ live performance includes obvious references to the Otherside metaverse. For example, we can see Eminem and Snoop Dogg encountering three giant Koda avatars on their Metaverse journey.
In short, Kodas are the main creatures behind the Otherside digital universe. These mysterious beings use their energy to keep their microverse intact. According to the storyline, Kodas have decided that Bored Apes and a few other collectibles (mainly from Yuga Labs) can join the Otherside too.
Therefore, it’s no wonder that Eminem and Snoop Dogg created a mix between their BAYC avatars and glimpses from the Otherside meta. The result is an unforgettable blend of memorable NFT projects.
How did the public react to Eminem and Snoop Dogg’s NFT show?
To begin with, hip-hop fans were delighted to see the two icons perform live again. Surprisingly, this is the first time Eminem and Snoop Dogg share the stage in over 20 years. This time, their enthusiasm for NFTs might be part of the reason behind their collaboration.
After all, Snoop Dogg has one of the biggest NFT collections on the market. Meanwhile, Eminem is the proud holder of a Bored Ape NFT and the ENS address Eminem.eth.
Together, the rappers used their BAYC IP commercial rights to create an impressive video for their track “From The D 2 The LBC”. The song premiered at Apefest back in June; of course, the NFT community was instantly hooked.
Eminem and Snoop Dogg’s BAYC-themed video received a nomination for Best Hip Hop Video at this year’s MTV VMAs. All in all, the live performance opened many doors for NFT creators to the mainstream audience around the globe.
